The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Remera Rukoma District Hospital contains 62 beds and performs about 4296 deliveries per year (2014).
The Obstetrics Department provides full time services and delivery services are performed by in-house obstetricians and neonatologists. Immediate access to prenatal and neonatal care services is also available if required. The general gynecology services offer medical or surgical treatment of different gynecological problems. Proper evaluation and treatment of vaginal infections or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is also provided.
Following delivery, the hospital has a rooming-in policy for mother and baby during their hospital stay, and also allows new mothers to participate in the baby’s early care and development. Lactation consultants are available for any breast-feeding problems or advice.
The qualified and experienced team of physicians consists of 1 general practitioner and a team of 9 nurses and 4 midwives specially trained to provide warm and tender care to all women and babies.

- Ensure the reception and registration of patients
- Conduct entrance examinations and monitoring of the patient
- Monitoring parameters (TA, Pulse , T º , Ro, WEIGHT, HEIGHT ... ) the patient
- Monitor the labor of the patient
- Administer the medical prescription made by the doctor
- Ensure uncomplicated deliveries
- Assist the physician during complicated deliveries
